Have you ever seen this while hunting???

This 9 point buck was chasing a doe about 60 yards behind my feeder for about 10 minutes. He finally came in for a bite of corn and offered me several shot opportunities at 14 yards. I picked up my bow but never put my release on the string because I had seen a heavy 8 point the evening before that really got my heart pumping. He quit eating and resumed chasing a doe, but this time she stopped running and let him smell her. I picked up my camera and was able to get three pictures of him mounting her. I had never seen before except on TV.

He then came back over for another bite of corn and I still didn't hook on my release. I kept telling myself "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" but finally decided I wanted the heavy 8 point. He stayed eating corn until dark and then walked away. Of course after he left I began kicking myself for not taking the shot.

I hunted the next morning and didn't see him or the heavy 8 point. I went back to camp about 10am only to learn that Tuthdoc had killed the 9 point. We all loaded up and went out to take pictures and get his/my deer.

I don't know what I was thinking when I passed this deer and hope I get a chance at the heavy 8. I've seen him 3 more times put he hasn't come in close enough for a shot....

The next evening I got to witness (and take a photo) another deer mounting a doe but this time it was a nubbin buck on a doe fawn. I guess the rut is going strong in our area.

I'm leaving tonite for 10 days of hunting and hopefully I'll get that 8 and quit kicking myself.....

    PS.
I photo shopped a picture of Tuthdoc's deer with me in the photo and sent it to him as a joke. I think I look better holding that deer than him! LOL!

Nine point at 14 yards!!! What was I thinking?

Great story. It would have been hard to pass on the 9 point. After all the "action" I get you felt like a voyuer(sp)!

Great story and pics. I think the nine may have had an arrow in his direction if it was me. Good luck on the 8.

I would have shot that 9 while mounted up on the doe while the video camera was running. What a heart shot opp in your above pics.

I would also bet an arrow to the heart would not even prevent him from finishing, a male will hardly ever let anything keep him from finishing.

You have great restraint ... I don't know if I coulda let him walk.

BTW, your photoshop skills aren't too shabby ... and yes, you do look better with that deer! LOL
