We use flea collars around our boots at work.

Permethrin like Rattler7696 said. Spray your clothes down the night before and then put them on the next morning. It will keep chiggers and ticks off. The first time I used it was at the Baker Ranch in June several years ago and I belly crawled on several occasions chasing animals and never got one chigger or tick!

I once worked a job putting up a fence in an area that was infested with chiggers. We all used the sulphur on our legs daily. It did the job. Problem solved. Use it with confidence.

Another vote for Permanone, but only on your clothes and footwear.

This gets my vote, too. Don't put it directly on skin, just clothes. Also, if you wear boots, tuck your pant legs in and spray your boots well. I didn't use to think that did anything, but have learned that it helps tremendously. Also, as already suggested, as soon as possible, rinse off well and put on clean clothes.

When I get home, I usually put my dirty clothes directly into the washer, wash them in hot water and dry in a dryer. That gets rid of all the chiggars.

Permanone treatment on your outer clothes, DEET on top, but don't put deet on your bare skin and then cover with socks/snake boots. It caused a really bad reaction for me, and the company rep I talked to asked me if I read and followed the application directions--NO. The reaction was worse than chiggers.

^^^^ This! I spray it on my clothing when I bowhunt public land and have taken naps in the grass with no chiggers or ticks.
