Calling Heath or baseball bat experts?????

Looking for a HS bat for my son. I have found the TPX Z1000 and the EXOGRID2 bats for about the same price. They are both 2012 models. Anyone have any preference between the two. My son is swinging an older black and yellow EXO now and likes it, but he is going into HS and is playing in a league that requires BBCOR. Any advice on the two?

The only experience with the Z100 I've had is that it broke fairly quickly, and the exos were amazing BESR bats but in my opinion I would stay away from them for BBCOR far to top heavy for my liking. Two other bats I would check out would be then Rawlings 5150, great balance and has awesome pop. And the Easton S series, I like the S1, S3, and S4, the Rawlings will be on the more affordable side of the two as they have two bats as well, the "old" 5150 which you can get for around $150 or the new 5150 Velo which I think jacks the price up some but not sure how much. Good luck in choosing and I hope that helped!

The main thing with BBCOR is it affected the barrel and so most BBCOR bats will swing heavy. I will only speak on the Louisville Slugger bats even though I have opinions on the others.

The Z1000 is going to be a very well balanced bat. It is one of the lightest swinging BBCOR bats on the market for 2012. We did have an issue with durability on some bats but we will take care of any issue that you may have. I have some bats that I hit all year and have had 0 issues with, while I know of others that cracked not to long out of the wrapper. I think the Z1000 was our best bat, but the high price kept it from doing as well in the market as we wanted to.

The EXO was still a very popular bat for us and Arizona swung it on their way to a National Title. Yes, it did have more of a end weighted swing weight (like all BBCORS) so a lot of guys would actually transition down a size. So if you swing a 32" bat, they would swing a 31". If your kid has been an EXO kid in the past this may be the way to go.

All of our new 2013 bats will be out in October and there is a big time difference between this year and last years. The swing weights have drastically changed and I love our new BBCOR line. You are going to be able to find some great deals on the 2012 Z1000 and EXO out in the market. Keep in my mind, these bats will be just as "hot" as the 2013 models, but the major difference will be the swing weights which is just a personal feel anyway. Some guys like swinging a bat that has more weight in the end.

What size are you looking for?

This past year I played with the Easton Surge. It fit me well and showed great power for a bbcor. I had 4 triples in 3 games. I still miss the good days though with the -10 easton bats

I always liked the feel of the TPX bats. But I'd let your son get some cage time with each bat and let him decide which feel/swings better to him .

The marucci bats a nice bats too, the Nike bats are great also. A lot of schools swing the Rawlings 5150 or the Easton's. Depends on how much you'd like to spend and what feels best. The bats should be going on sell like previously mentioned since the new bats are about to come out. I've alway like the omahas, they are in a good price range and feel great on the hands. Choosing between those two I'd go with the Exo.

Be careful as a few of the Marucci bats are banned.

The black n yellow Easton is a beast. When I was hitting with that bat, I couldn't tell a difference between that bat n an old hs bat. I was still crushing the ball with the bbcor
