Get after it--that's one thing they can never take from you--your education. And, since you've some experience and maturity, you should have an easier (I hope) time choosing your field of study.
I graduated with an Associates in 1995 right after high school and though I'd never go back. I worked full time for 4 years and decided to go back at night and online. I graduated in 2003 with my Bachelors. I'm not sure if it helped me at my work, but it made me feel better.
If it makes you feel better, I worked full-time and planned our wedding all while taking 6-9 hours / semester so it can be done. Good luck to you. Marriage changes your spare time, but kids really change it.
It's never too late. I believe going to college a lot of times is a matter of circumstance, so I say if you can make it work now definitely try.
Depending on what kind of work you're doing in the oil field, you may be able to talk with your employer about part-time work or a secure summer job if you still want to work in the oil field after school. I would suggest deciding whether you will take classes online or go to a school. Also be sure to look into the type of degree you want and the admission process.
Most important though is speaking with your family about it and working out the numbers on paper. Good luck!
I have returned to school after being out of school for 26 years. Decided I wanted to have a career I enjoyed and wanted to do. I guess that means my vote is, no, it is not too late. The degree I have chosen to pursue is going to be less than some of the positions in management I have held. I have decided it is not about the money but doing something I enjoy. Thankfully I have vet benefits to cover my tuition. Good luck to you sir, like others have said, it can be a challenge but if you really want it, you can do it. I have found that prayers help.
