      2. your job is to remove obstacles from your team
      3. always be transparent to your managers and your team
      4. communication is key, not just "what" but "why"
      5. Growth is uncomfortable, that's why they call it growing pains. expect to be put in positions that give you stress (like reprimanding a past coworker). Take a deep breath and go do it.
      6. I tell my team their job is to make me look good, my job is to make them look good. We need each other.
      7. Handle issues directly and quickly
      8. Do not reprimand employees in front of their peers.
      9. Tell them what you expect from them
      10. Never ever take credit for their efforts. As a manager you don't have to have the good ideas, you want to manage the team that has the good ideas.
      11. Seek a mentor

I think that is a good start.

The best comeback for peers talking trash about your promotion is doing a good job as a manager.

PM me if you want ask anything specific.
I certainly agree with all of the above but would slightly edit number 8 to read like this: 8. Reprimand employees privately/recognize them publicly.

      And, maybe add another number:
      12. As a leader, your job is to tell the team what the tasks are; as a smart leader, your job is to solicit the team's input on how to best accomplish the tasks.

Always remember - Superiors, Peers and Subordinates were or may be in your shoes at some point in time in their lives and careers!

Define, Communicate, Communicate and then Communicate again the expectations of your organization and your role as their leader within the organization. Emphasize your success’ will be theirs and theirs will be yours and without each other that neither of you will likely be needed!

First and foremost - LISTEN (80/20 rule) …….. then ALWAYS offer Support, be a Mentor, Train and then Discipline when required. Always remember corrective action is meant to offer solutions and improvements not just reprimand!

Last bust most importantly ALL the above are to be done with the utmost Respect and Professionalism possible at ALL times good and bad!!!

Best of Luck and feel free to PM if I can help in any way!!!
