Anybody Looking for A Hog Dog?

I got this email today. I know the chances are slim that anyone would take them but I thought I would post it anyway.

Hey Cable, We've had an unfortunate incident that could possibly benefit a hog hunter.

Came home this evening to find our two pit mixes pulled down and attacked our horse. Not sure the horse is going to make it - waiting for the vet to get here.

First instinct was to euthanize the dogs. Vet suggested offering them to a hog hunter. They acted as a team and successfully brought down 1200 pounds of horse. Rather than put them down, the vet thought someone in need of hog dogs might benefit.

Sooner rather than later...just to put my mind at ease. These are two of the sweetest, most docile dogs on the planet when not left to their own devices. Found a chink in the fence and got into the pasture.

I'd love to see if you know anyone who'd like to take a shot with them. If it doesn't work out, they're free to do what they deem appropriate.

    Thanks a lot.

Let me know if you are interested. If you have negative things to say about pit bulls please refrain from posting on this thread. I am not their biggest fan either- but I have seen them in action as catch dogs and they are tough to beat. Anyway- PM if you like.

Found out how old and what type of mix one of the dogs is- the owner sent this response email to me.

Jayke is a pit/American bulldog mix. He’s 2 years old, 65 lbs. or so. Neutered and current on shots. Has been on Revolution/Heartgard regime since we got him at 6 weeks, so he should be good on heartworms. He actually belongs to our 16 year old daughter, and she’s pretty shook up over it. Would much rather see him go to a new owner than be euthanized.

I probably would agree with an on the spot solution, but a few months ago I saw across a parking lot a person walking one of the best looking dogs I had ever seen. It was at a distance and I thought it was a Dogo so I wanted to go see it. Turned out it was a white pit/American bulldog. I was glad I made the effort to get a better look.

I don't understand how people expect a dog to attack a pig or coon, or whatever critter, but get upset when they get on a horse or cow etc. How are they to refrain when it's in their blood? Just curious how this works?

I have no use for a pit, hopefully they'll go to a good home and stay out of trouble.

The problem these dogs will cause for a hog dogger is that these dogs will most likey strike another horse or a landowners cattle. I would never take the chance. Unfortunately these dogs probably need to be put down.
