    Tree Scews

Does any one know what is the actual name of this type of threaded rod or where one could purchase them. I need to make some tree stakes and cant find any thing like this that is not already made in to something.

    Thanks in advance!

I dont use tree screws anymore after a cousin of mine stepped on one and it broke while hunting on a bowhunting only ranch in Casteel a few years back. When it broke he fell and hit the one below, ripped his scrotum open and his jewels were hanging exposed in the wind. After that I went to using rapid rails. Not a pretty sight.

I never use them for anything other than hanging a bow or pack. Heard too many horror stories of people getting hurt bad with those things.

I do not know of any place that would have the rod pre-machined. Most any machine shop could turn a rod, the quality of the rod is real inportant piece of the puzzle. I think that if I were making some and could get a Chrome-moly rod, that would be the best.
A rust preventitve coating, is the next important issue.

I have used screw in tree steps for over 40 years. Good and bad ones. If you want a great one....I only use EZSTEP brand and use the solid rod...the best!!!

I also use tree screw tool this guy in Alabama invented...Genius! see video.
hope this helps you out! Dont buy a cheap screw step.

It is a great invention. ive talked the guy a few times and ordered some for friends. Just a common guy with a great idea. I think of all the years I used to bust my knuckels in Montana putting in steps. Also taking steps out....so easy now! This tool and EZ steps are like butter!! dont leave home without them!
