I would go to Alaska, residents get a hugh break on tags, live there a few years and then come back to Texas and thaw out.

I'd go for El Paso. You'll still be in Texas, but yet not far at all from some of the best elk, and mule deer hunting in the US.

Kinda what I was thinkin. Never been to AK. I can handle a Texas winter, but not sure I could do AK.

In Alaska I think they call them a,Chemchaca, in Texas you would be a snowbird.
I would choose both. Alaske May thru September, Texas the rest of the year. The last time I was in Fairbanks, they had 110v outlets in the Walmart parking lot to keep your car from freezing in January.
I can't say 50 below without shivering.

I love Texas but as others have said, NO THANK YOU TO El Paso.

Perhaps after our government realizes we need to be along the border as heavy as we are in the middle east then perhaps after the military has done their job, then I might think about spending anything more than pass thru time in El Paso.
