Smart's original question was, "Is dipping or smoking a sin?". I don't think it matters at all what denomination you are. "Religion" is the worse thing to ever happen to Christianity anyhow, IMO. I believe that if Josh Hamilton has conviction about his use of tobacco and doesn't do something about it, it is probably sinful. I believe that there is no sin in having a beer, yet my buddy who was raised by an alcoholic mother feels a lot of conviction about drinking, so he doesn't. I believe that if God tells you in your heart that you shouldn't be doing something and you do it anyhow...it's probably a sin. Maybe that is what Hamilton is struggling with.


PS. I don't really know much and my preacher sometimes has to put in extra-time just praying for my ignorant self.

Exactly! Some sins are more about a violation of one's own convictions and self control, than a violation of a clearly stated Biblical principle. For Josh the decision to quit could be about being a better witness and role model.

the pressures he deals with daily?

we all have the same pressures. I dont see what makes his so much worse. I run my own business, and give credit and have to worry about people running of with thousands of dollars of mine (that I cant afford). I have to pay my bills and feed my family and be a good dad and be a good husband.

this guy is RICH! has a wife who has stuck buy his side when he is out cheating etc (mine wouldnt)... if my customers dont pay me I cant feed my family. want some stress?! run a small family business!!! lol...

i understand what your saying, but the whole world isnt watching your every move hoping you screw up so they can jump on you, with that being said, cut him and get some one else that can bat .177
