    Josh Hamilton reveals his problem/struggle...

.....and the culprit is not an impending divorce like many speculated but tobacco use and plate discipline...He doesn;t say it, but i would assume he is suggesting that the personal tobacco struggle is affecting his plate discipline?.

"Due to the speculation that occurred from my recent comments, I felt it was important to clarify what the 'issue' was to which I was referring -- both personally and professionally. The issue is 'discipline.' Professionally, it's been plate discipline. Personally, it's been being obedient to the Lord in quitting chewing tobacco. I was hesitant to address the tobacco once again because it's an area that I've struggled with trying to quit in the past."

Is tobacco use a sin or does it depend on your denomination?...A past preacher of mine was a smoker so I find this strange.

Somebody get that boy a can of Copenhagen until the season is over....please!!!.

i, PERSONALLY, do not think its a sin, but there are alot of groups out there that believe any outside thing that alters your state of mind can be considered sinful.

Get rid of him! Drama drama drama! That's all he's caused is DRAMA. Granted he's a great player, he's got an excuse for everything that happens. Let him take his money to "do great things" with. I'm sick of this guy putting fans through his windmill of crap.

I am going to guess that the demons that plague him with substance abuse are the same ones that he has with tobacco....he is probably suffering from some kind of nicotine withdrawal...and although I have no idea what either feels like, the mental and physical dependencies have probably similar characteristics....

As a RECOVERING drug user he should not be using tobacco! his "make-up" makes him suspectible to becoming addicted again...........and I aint talking about tobacco. Prayers up so he can keep his focus and go get some BUBBLE GUM!!!

He sees dependance - being controlled by any outside substance - as a weakness he must overcome. All of us who have fought the nicotine demon knows how he feels, but it must be much worse for those who get addicted easily. Very common for recovering alcoholics/drug users to hang on to that one last addiction - tobacco. One buddy of mine said as helpful as AA was in his recovery, the fact that everybody chain smoked just about drove him out. May be the fan in me talking but I'm not sure the middle of a stressful season is the best time to quit.

maybe he needs to focus on baseball right now, and take care of the bad habits starting after the ws. seems like a reasonable way of dealing with this demon.

A doctor was interviewed in the piece, and he confirmed that there is a physical response to nicotine withdrawals. God bless Josh and his journey to the Hall of Fame.

The best part was the end of the report,Josh said his marriage is "nobody's buisiness".

It is easy to pile on the guy because he has some problems. The only reason you know about them is the press needs to put out dirt to get better ratings. Those of you who want to get rid of him because he has had problems must be perfect. I would like to see how anyone of you would handle the pressure he deals with everyday. We all have issues, we are just lucky we don't have the press following us around waiting for us to slip up.

the pressures he deals with daily?

we all have the same pressures. I dont see what makes his so much worse. I run my own business, and give credit and have to worry about people running of with thousands of dollars of mine (that I cant afford). I have to pay my bills and feed my family and be a good dad and be a good husband.

this guy is RICH! has a wife who has stuck buy his side when he is out cheating etc (mine wouldnt)... if my customers dont pay me I cant feed my family. want some stress?! run a small family business!!! lol...

I tried to quit dipping while working a very high stress job once. I don't think I could imagine being more misreable and irritable and it affected a lot more than just patience.

So far I have switches jobs and kept the can. Getting rid of one irritant at a time
