Shot Placement Guide

I thought it might be a good idea to have a post about shot placement as the season approaches. Keep these diagrams in mind as you're practicing and getting ready for the opener.

I lost a deer for the first time last year, and it's a sickening feeling. Hopefully the information in this thread will help prevent deer loss in the future.

In my opinion, most people (myself included) tend to aim too far back.

Closing The Distance has a really good DVD out there "Shot Placement 101"

Plus, if they can't smell their next meal, they will ultimately starve to death. You just have to be real patient tracking, because it may take a week or so.
