    Shot Placement Guide

I thought it might be a good idea to have a post about shot placement as the season approaches. Keep these diagrams in mind as you're practicing and getting ready for the opener.

I lost a deer for the first time last year, and it's a sickening feeling. Hopefully the information in this thread will help prevent deer loss in the future.

In my opinion, most people (myself included) tend to aim too far back.

Great reminder. It's time to study up for sure.

      Those are great diagrams.

For a shot placement guide, you cannot beat Jbone's thread....should be a sticky once the season starts.

They can't run if they cant breathe...thats why I aim for the nose.

Hey Split Arrow can you or someone else add some measurements to that to give an idea the size of area the lungs and heart cover?

Plus, if they can't smell their next meal, they will ultimately starve to death. You just have to be real patient tracking, because it may take a week or so.
