i am a chl holder and carry everywhere i legally can, i try to train and plan for different occasions i even choose where i sit at restaurants and where i park my car i try and keep both eyes open to my surroundings.
the problem i see with a ton of chl holders is they barely passed the class and how competent are they really with their weapon.
a theater is not only dark but its full of people that were running for their lives....that sounds to me like a not only difficult but very risky shot. as the person firing a weapon you are responsible for every bullet leaving your weapon.
it is very important that everyone carrying a concealed weapon takes the time to learn your weapon and train to the most of your abilities.
this is a very shady period for gun owners and we do not need to give all the anti gun people any more ammunition to use against law abiding citizens.
god bless America and god bless this great state.

There are a lot of people that would not do this, even though they have a CHL and "train" for situations like this one.

I have a feeling that if someone were to have been in that theatre with a CHL and were to act with his/her weapon, unless they just happened to be within 10 feet of the perp, the scene would've turned horrible. Perp shooting innocent, CHL person firing rounds in a dark theatre filled with smoke and people scattering. Remember, this idiot was there to kill, so it didn't matter if he could see or had clear shooting lanes. On the other hand, to the CHL person, it most certainly matters. Best idea is to head for safety as quickly as possible.

Trying to help and killing two or three children who were running between our path, that would feel the worst. I have my CHL... If it were he vs I or my family, okay, let's do it, but this theatre had 4 showings of the batman movie and all four were sold out. He had 2 semi automatic rifles, 3 pistols. He shot 71 people in less than 2 minutes. Lord know how many shots missed. One shot went through the wall and hit someone in the neighboring theatre. He was wearing a bullet proof vest, a blast helmet, bullet proof shin guards and a cup. He thought he was the Joker. His house is Boobie Trapped.

I would try to defend my wife and daughter first. If i could get them to security i would return to help others if possible ....not to be a hero or be Steven seagal ....but bc my conscious wouldn't accept anything less....i could never walk away just bc i was safe and leave others to die it just ain't possible.this is why im getting my chl in the first place ...
That's just my. 02 but i think many here would do the same ....could another person with a chl shoot me mistakenly? Yep . Could a cop shoot me mistakenly? Yep. Could the criminal or criminal's be a better shot than me? Yep. Would that stop me? Nope. ......that's not being a hero that's doing the right thing

I'm always carrying while I'm stateside. In my work we do plenty of weapons training and drills. I'm sure the initial panic would hit first, but until it happens to you... You can only speculate. I've been shot at while working in a war zone, and it sure gets the adrinaline flowing.
My wife and I have been butting heads about me carrying, especially since we've just had a little one come into our lives. She tells me that I can't carry while the baby is with me, but to me this makes me want to carry more... I'd hate to have him with me and not have the means to protect my wife and kids if a situation came. Everytime we talk about it, it becomes a yelling match because of course women think with emotions instead of logic...
