I know exactly where you are at and just kayaked it wedsnday. It was swarming with mullet right there wedsnday. We paddled 2 miles with current from there and we all waded back....never more than waist deep in river EXCEPT on one of the oxbows.

Yes 3/0 trebles....90# coated wire leader and 40# braided line.
Kyle just missed another run.

I think we are getting bit from small long nose gar that can't get the bait all the way down. At least that's my theory.

Kyle caught a nice small spotted gar...
I had a big one hooked for about 2 seconds before it came unbuttoned.
We are almost out of bait. 2 left. We will be better prepared next time.

Plenty of time. Throw a cast net. Try to get ol big right at sundown. Never know, may end up with a big flattie.
