My son just had a run with a small gar. He let it run for 2-3 minutes and set the hook when it tightened up. Had him for a split second then it went slack.

The river is low which I would think would be great for gar fishing.

No runs on the big pole yet.

Kyle has a run on the small pole right now........gonna set the hook in a few minutes when he stops running.

It got hung up on a log and the gar dropped it.

Ok things are heating up. I just got bit on the big pole. I let him take 100 yards of line....it stopped and I reeled down and..........nada. He dropped it.

That thing was stripping line off the free spool. Dang it!
