Yuck. That waters gotta be in the 90's by now.

I vote for amistad. A little remote. But prettier than anything listed so far. And a definite change of pace

I would suggest Caddo also. It is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, especially in the Spring and Fall. But I wouldn't classify it as jet ski friendly. It isn't one of those lakes where you can just jump on the boat and take off in any direction. On the Texas side of the lake you have to stick to the marked boat roads. Definitely take a gps with you. I can guarantee that you have never been lost like you will be if you get lost on Caddo. I have taken friends to the lake before and left our lake house and driven in a mile long circle and stopped right back where we started at and he had no idea where we were. Have fun and be safe.

Sam rayburn and Toledo bend, only 30 miles apart. Indian mounds wilderness area on toledo bend is the only wilderness area in the star of texas i believe.

This is the area I'm leaning towards since my kids have never experienced the area.

We've spend time at the above lakes on a regular basis, but would like to check out new scenery. I don't have a big boat, but do have jet skies. Would prefer to keep it within 4 hours or so of the Houston area, since we would most likely try to stay in the area for one or two nights. I'm mainly looking for family friendly lakes, that are jet ski friendly, and offer something different than the local lakes I've posted.

                      Thanks,

Canyon Lake is great and so is Lake Travis.

LAKE LBJ! Constant level lake, alway full. There is a Marriot Resort on the lake. $$, but nice.

If you dont want to spend the $$ to stay at the resort, you can stay in Marble Falls. Hampton, LaQuinta, Red Roof, ETC. Day trip to one of the "nicer" parks in the Granite Shoals area. They have boat launch, picnic tables, bathrooms(fancy outhouse) There is also Tropical Hideaway. Older condos on the water you can rent by the night. Nice beach area for kids. Boat ramp near by to launch skis.

I would vote Amistad too, but it will be over a four hour trip.

All of the Highland Lakes are nice. Buchanan when full is awesome. You can go all the way to Bend. Swimming under the falls are great and the Canyon is Beautiful.
