I'm assuming it must not be full.

Come on over to Big Sam Rayburn! There's some pretty nice cabins at Twin Dykes and Rock Island is a cool place for the kids to hang out and "explore".

So overwhelming with so many options. I won't be able to try them all this summer, but I will start a list and keep up with it until I hit them all.

The good thing about the Highland lakes is that most can be explored in a matter of days. Not Much to Marble Falls. LBJ is Kinda cool especially around Horseshoe Bay. Inks is small and you can see all of it in about an hour.lol Buchanan and Travis would take you days.

                Brandon, just to point out
Texana & Conroe are only a little over an hour from where you live
Huntsville StPk is only 2 hrs

I vote Belton, we go skiing there quite a bit and it is a really nice lake. Deffinately way cleaner than Somerville.

Amistad is my favorite lake in Texas by far. The scenery and water are amazing plus the fishing is some of the best. It is much further than 4 hours for you though. Y'all should try to make it out that way sometime.
Inks and Buchanan as others have suggested are very cool lakes too.

We do Conroe, however I try to avoid it if possible. Too many big boats acting like fools and the lake can get extremely rough.

Texana is kind of unknown (new lake). It looks deserted everytime we go to paddle the upper reaches

Fayette cty is a nice lake; however, its like being in a bathtub! The water temp is around 93 degrees this time of year.
