Anyone have experience with this one?

Minn Kota Power V2. The 68# thrust is only $699 at BPS.

Pretty much my experience except I switched to MK 9 years ago. Can't 'comment on the newer MG's but haven't seen the need to switch back.

Look up Hollis Joiner on Lake Fork, his son posts on here. He usually has TM's for sale cheap!! If he doesn't have one he can find it. He's better than the Thrifty Nickel...

Look up shut-up-and-fish over on TFF. From what I understand, he's got the best prices on Minn Kota or Motorguide, hands down.

I have had both and I like Motor guide 100 times better than min kota. I had a MK Maxum 82 on my old boat that I put on a year before I sold the boat. Loved how easy it was to raise and lower the TM, but hated the foot petal. When I got my ranger I bought a new MG tour edition and put on it. Love the metal foot petal, but it is harder to put up and down.

We are leaning towards the Minn-Kota Powerdrive V2 with 68#. Reviews have it pulling pontoon boats around through vegetation, so it should handle our little boat.

But the main reason is highlighted below.

                  Ergonomically Designed Foot Pedal
Offers precise speed adjustment, right/left steering, and both momentary and constant on/off. Features the industry's highest IP68 waterproof rating and an 18' cord.

                  Wireless Foot Pedal System Accessory

Plug-n-play design for PowerDrive V2 (and Riptide SP) bow-mount motors. Wireless foot pedal gives you the freedom to fish anywhere on the boat. Pedal functions include left/right steering, speed up/down, and motor on/off. Receiver attaches to the right side-plate of trolling motor mount and includes plug to allow corded foot pedal to be used in conjunction with the wireless pedal. System is programmable to allow multiple foot pedals and/or CoPilotâ„¢ remotes to be ''learned'' (up to 10 total, sold separately).

This means that I would be able to control the trolling motor from the Stern platform while my buddy is dealing with a fish, or tangles on the bow.

I like the pedal, too. Looks simple and straight forward:

I have a 55lb. 12v Minn Kota on my 1860 aluminum with the foot control you listed. I'm still not use to the foot control over a tiller steer but it's growing on me. I went from an 80lb 24v to a 55. While it moves my boat ok, I feel I want my 80lb back. Get plenty of lbs and get Minn Kota.

.....as for pulling a pontoon through vegetation.....I haven't found a TM yet that runs in thick vegetation.

I may not have as much experience as others on this subject, but I have made a living fishing Lake Fork, and tournaments around the Country for 29 years, and have ZERO sponsorship from ANY company.
I buy my stuff just like the general public.
MotorGuide Tour 24 volt 82 lb thrust foot control.
Hours and hours, day after day, of steady performance doesn't lie.
