Mounting a rifle scope on a air rifle, can you?

Spring piston air gun will tear up a regular scope since it recoils forward and backwards. I would recomend checking with the scope manufacturer to see if your particular scope is rated for airguns. Kinda ironic that a $500 scope may live forever on a .300 Weatherby but last 5 shots on a .17 air rifle.

I have heard you need an air gun scope for an air gun due because the sharp recoil will destroy a regular scope.
Although air guns don't feel like they "kick" the recoil is different and harder on a scope than a conventional firearm. It will tear up a conventional scope.

Also the focal point is different on an air rifle scope that a rifle scope. If I understand it correctly, the focal point is like 20-50 yards on an air rifle scope and like a 100 on a rifle scope. I am not sure if this is correct or maybe it applies to .22 cals only. Just something I had heard somewhere along the way.
