You have to get a visitors pass at the main gate which is off HWY 190. Stop at the visitors center, show them your id, drivers license, proof of registration & insurance and you can be issued a visitors pass.

Yes. You'll have to go through the main gate and stop at the visitors center and get a pass. Once you get your paperwork squared away at the sportsmans center, you go back to the visitors center and they'll make it a year pass. I keep all the paperwork in a folder ready to go.

Ok awesome, when is the best time of year to go? Don't they only have a certain number of passes?

I believe anyone can get a pass. The hog hunting will be DIY. Find your spot, set it up, etc. Same with bow hunting deer. During the regular season, Ft Hood offers guided hunts. The guides take you to your stand & pick you up.

You have to have Hunter's safety as well.
