Not any real BBQ in Lubbock......Rudy's is probably the best IMO.

Save some for us. We leave in the morning for the rifle match.

Cagles is pretty reaonable for steaks, never eaten at double nickel and las brisas is pricey. But if you want a $30 filet i recommend las brisas, it mighty delicious. bighams BBQ on 82nd and Indiana or Rudy's on the loop and slide for the BBQ

Eddie's is on the east side on east 50th is by far the best bbq in this area.. It is on the east side yes, but it is fine during the day time. For lunch time it is very typical to see city workers.

Never really liked Cagles for steaks. If you really want the best, Double Nickel and Las Brisas are the best, but I still like 50 Yard Line. I have never had a bad steak at 50 Yard line and I have eaten there for a long, long time. I like Bingham's better than Rudy's. Stay away from Dickey's, to expensive and not very good BBQ.

Be aware that Eddies is only open at lunch.

My new fav BBQ place is "Dirty's" out on the idalou highway headed east, about a mile before you get to 2641. That is some dang good que. hand makes his own sausage stuffed with ground brisket.

Las brisas is by far the best steak for the $, cagles for novelty & experience. Double nickel for a sub par steak at a Morton's price range.

                    Gardski's for all around dining.

Lubbock Breakfast House for anything breakfast, I hear their sweet potatoes pancakes are great.

Pm me if ya wanna go to dirty's I'll meet ya there!

It's not BBQ but make a swing through Chimys. Have a couple margaritas for me, lots of good times there.

I love some rudy's breakfast tacos in the morning for breakfast. They are hard to beat. I like Eddie's pork loin. He's my parent's neighbor and we talk quite a bit. There's also a shack called Sweet Lucy's BBQ on East FM 40 thats really good. I like their sliced brisket there.

And while the steaks at Las Brisas are good, I think their Mexican food is better.

I won't get into eating places, been too long since I have run around Lubbock, and things have changed too much.

My son is leaving this morning from Wellington headed down there for the convention as well. He is on the Plant ID team, his FFA team won state this year.

Good luck in whatever you are doing down there, hope you have a great time!

I'll second double nickel for a good steak!

Playa, what old place is this "dirty's" located in on the Idalou Hwy? It is funny how between all these suggestions how many at one time or another have had a bad meal or bad steak at almost everyone of the places listed. Never had a bad or sup par steak at Double Nickel either like Playa has. Everyone of these eateries quality all depends on who the cook is at a particular time. Most of the time, they are good, but there is always that one time the cook ruins everything.
