The further it throws corn the better unless you have a feeder pen and you don't want any corn outside the feed pen.

During the off-season, I don't mind if it drops directly under the feeder, as I'm up close and personal waiting for the hogs. Deer season, I like it scattered a bit, so the animals don't bunch up making it hard to get a clear shot at one animal.

The On-Time feeders have a setting for motor speed--

Piles of corn under a feeder usually means the animals aren't hitting it (allowing it to pile up) or a coon is spinning the plate for his buddies - in either case, it's a negative.

It's better for your feeder to spread the corn out as much as possible! For one, they can't get in there and gobble it up quickly and split. A wide dispersal means that more animals will get a shot at some and theyll get used to feeding for longer times around the feeder- both are bonuses. Also, some timid deer don't like feeding directly under a feeder and a wide cast means they will feed there too.

Keep it where it's at unless it's throwing too much corn each time! If you want to reduce the amount of corn, shorten the throw time or move the spinner plate closer to the mouth of the funnel.

        Good luck!
