    Feeder Question??

How do you adjust the rpm's on a feeder? I have an all seasons broadcast feeder and it's slinging WAY too hard.
    Thanks

Some you have a setting at the end of the setting saying full moter speed or other option. If it don't the only way I know to shorten the throw area in put a varment cage on it. i have to do it on a few of the magnum feeders I have. Best of Luck

Very few timers will allow that. Just adjust your seconds thrown and your distance between funnel and spinner accordingly. Throwing hard is a good thing.

My feeder does not have an adjustment and I really like the idea that it throws corn a long ways from the feeder. To me this keeps more deer around longer and does not let a dominant doe sit right in the middle and run off everything around her. This makes the deer walk to gather corn, they cannot just stand in one place and turn around and then all the corn is gone. This is an advantage to me, even with throwing corn outside the feed pen.

Does it have a 6 or 12 volt batt.? Some mechs. will take both and the six volt don't sling as hard.

Is the motor capable of running off of a 6 volt? If so, that'll make it not sling so far.

My reasons behind this are because I've seen pics on here and it's almost like a pile of corn underneath feeders. I was just wondering if this is what was supposed to happen. But if it being slung out doesn't matter I'll leave it how it is. It's just thick where my feeder is and I figured it would be easier for them to find it if it was piled up.

The more scattered it is, the more time they spend there.

Keep it the way it is. Make them look for it. That will keep them there longer and possibly give you a chance to calm down for a shot and give you a better shot. also, they will thin out the weeds, brush and grass where the corns is thrown. If you have enough deer, it will end up as bare dirt.

Very true.. I'd rather have them out milling around a larger area than concentrated directly under the feeder...

I used to spend a good deal of time/sweat/effort weedeating around the feeder, etc. when I started running the feeder. But now I just put corn in a let the deer/hogs do all of the grass/weed removal. They are better at it than me any ways!
