    Deer feeder times and amount??

Well, Ive been waiting for this day for quite awhile now. I finally get to move into my new deer lease in Walker county. I bought a 300 pound broadcast feeder and I plan on feeding corn from now until deer season. Im going to hunt pigs in the off season. This is my first time ever to have a deer lease and to use a deer feeder myself. My question for y'all is what time do y'all recommend feeding and how many seconds should i sling corn for. I was thinking 7am- and 7pm right now and for 4seconds each. Please, any input is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I would say 2 seconds in the morning and 2 2 second feedings in the eve. One at 7 and one at 745-8

This time of year I feed 7 am and 7pm. I only throw for 2 seconds for each feeding. My 300 lb. feeder will last about 10-11 weeks at this setting. Every feeder is different on the amout of corn that is thrown. Mine is a Hang em High with "The Timer" feeder mechanism. Not sure if this is any help.

        Thanks guys,
This is helpful.. I bought an all seasons feeder and the timer came with it. I will try this out and see how it works out. I also have a hog pipe I made out of PVC so Im anxious to get in the woods!!

I know on some throwers it's ajustable, so the times may be different on your feeder vs mine. I run my feeder for 5 to 7 seconds but my openings on my feeders are narrow. One way to check it is to test the feeder and hold a bucket underneath to catch the corn.

Yep--and the narrow opening helps keeping the winds from emptying it for you. Weigh what the bucket catches from one spin, total up what all the day's spins throw, and divide the amount the feeder holds by the amount thrown in one day to get how many days it will last.

I like to feed right a sun up for about 3 seconds depending on a 6 volt or 12 volt feeder and about 1.5 hours before sunset for about the same.

i wouldn't waste a lot of time or money on corn right now. lots of food for deer and pigs right now. 2 second feed at 7am and 8pm.

for attracting deer, I like to buy the cheapest apples I can find. U can usually get a 5 or 10 pound bag of the little red apples pretty cheap. Rub apples on trees like you would a block of cheese on a cheese grater. the juice and pulp of the apple ooze down the tree making a nice lickin post.

                    what part of walker county?

Four or five seconds around 2 hours before dark for now. Morning feeds will usually be eaten by the birds and squirrels.

This is what I was thinking too. Im not trying to feed the crows and squirrels if I don't have too.
