How much pay increase will this education get you? Than multiply that by the number of years you will work. Could be one of the best or worst investments you ever made!

They get me on the hours of what the class consist of. Fire academy was 24 credit hours and I am not sure what the full amount is for this medic class. I know it is 11 for this semester.

Glad all that is behind us. Money well spent. Both kids are doing very well.Thank goodness one has bought a nice ranch and the other has very nice offshore fishing boat.So guys just think of it as an investment in your own future.

I just graduated from SHSU last August. My parents told me after I graduated that my school was on my own. It was the best thing for me, I do have about $25K in school loans but when you are paying for your own school it's more of an incentive to finish FAST!!! It also helped that I always found a good job to help support me. Goodluck

I was blessed with parents that paid for mine until I got married then i finished my last year and 1/2 on my own. Now im in Grad school 10 years later with 3 kids and trying to pay for it again. Not sure it is the best thing but this job requires it so not much of a choice. By the way prices have tripled since i was last in school.

Oh, and in my opinion it is a good investment regardless. But if college is not your thing, which it is not for everyone, then find a trade. Certified skilled workers often make better money and have better job security.

while i believe college is over rated, its very necessary. I had an IT manager at USAA tell me i could learn more in 6 months on the job than 4 years in school but the degree is necessary. ill be paying off my loans for a while, praise the lord kelsys school was paid off

It sucks but it is what it is. between me and my wife we pay about $450 a month and that will be for quiet a few more years for me. Luckily if my wife continues to teach in the public school system 2 more years with good test scores the state forgives her loan fees so that will be nice. Like many said it could be worse and not have the opportunity to go to college at all then wouldnt be able to have a decent job that allows me to look at the green screen throughout the day

Based on...what? If someone wants to be a surgeon, CPA, attorney, etc. I would suggest a degree is mandatory.
