Ok. And if they become extinct, that's a BAD thing, right?

"Federal officials estimate that 55 percent of this species can be found on private property. On public property where the remaining 45 percent are believed to be located, federal officials would have the authority to place restrictions on the use of that land if the reptile were listed as an endangered species."

Sounds like a back door way of regulating hunting on public land for the anti's.

You won't find any Eastern Diamondbacks in Texas.

Well guess I will go stand in the other corner of the room by myself. Its every persons right to do they please with a snake and I don't every push my personal opinions on anyone. I hate to see people killing them just becouse they came within sight of one. Make it a point to get out of the truck/atv and shoot it...when they were in no danger at all. I know they arn't near extinction but I hate for it to get to the point where a rattle snake sighting is about as rare as a horny toad sighting here in Texas.

If listing them is warranted I'm all for it, but I'd like to see the concluding study done by real biologists instead of "environmentalists." Snakes fulfill an important niche in most ecosystems, and if people keep shooting, shoveling and shutting up there are likely to be unintended ecological consequences once species start disappearing...

                                ..................Roger that!

44 acres were purchased in S FL for a shopping mall. Feds told them there was possibly an endanger mouse on the property halting construction. After releasing 500 3'-4' hungry E Diamondbacks over several weeks time the endangered mouse went some where else to live, and the construction resumed.
