Good luck. We used to use MSMA to kill it. Now the state has decided to ban MSMA. You can spot spray with roundup but if you get any on the other grass it will kill it to.
I read something recently that said that spraying vinegar on weeds will kill them without putting all the chemicals into your soil. It'll kill your grass too, so treat it like RoundUp. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to.
I've used roundup in a small spay bottle. I put out late in the evening if there's no wind and spray a small amount in the center of the weed. It may take two or three treatments to get them all. Once they're dead you can dig or pull out the roots then water the lawn really good and the grass will fill in the holes.
Good luck, it's a bit of work but will look nice when completed.
I went back and forth with it, and finally had to use Round Up. I really had nothing to loose since i am having to sprig all of my back yard anyway due to the drought. I used the Round Up that you can replant within 1 to 4 days after use.....so it claims.
Most of the yard was Dallis grass, its all gone now.
msma and must be applied when temperatures are above 80 to be effective.
What is this msma, who makes it, where can you buy it, how do you apply??
I tried a powder form gauranteed to kill Dallis grass. I cannot remember the name but it smelled just like cinnamon....that isn't it is it. It did not work. 1 week later i cut the grass (weeds), and 1 week later the Dallis grass started to grow again. The same ones i used the powder form killer on.
The other one highly recommended made by Bayer, also gauranteed to kill all weeds withoput damaging your lawn.."ALL IN ONE" i think is the name, could not be found ANYWHERE!
I bought some MSMA before it went off the market. I'm waiting for nightime temps to stay up before I give it a heavy dose. A month after that I'm gonna hit it again, then load the yard up with corn glutten meal this fall, and again next spring before green up. My dad is the yard guru and he says the corn glutten meal will kill the crabgrass/dallisgrass seeds before they sprout AND fertilize the yard.
