I am currently running a 16x44 Godevil surface drive boat with a 23 Godevil Surface drive motor and love it over all teh longtails I have ever driven. I did do a Stage 1 mod to it by adding a different carb, intake, muffler and bigger prop. By myself in shallow water it runs about 26mph and deep water about 21mph. 2 guys/gear shallow runs about 21mph and deep water is about 18mph. I have had no problems runnign in sandy bottom areas or even full gravel/rock with mine. Just gotta know how to drive it and where to run.
Most areas I run are hard bottom shallow water and she does just fine for both hunting and fishing...
Oh, and the customer service with Go-Devil is second to none. You can call and ask them anything and usually you will talk with the owner Warren Coco or one of his tech/builders, not some one who doesnt' know what they are talking about. I will never buy another mud rig unless it's a Go-devil.

The hurricane destroyed the duck camp on Hemmenway's.

The refuges have moved to a 9" prop rule, and kills all the speed and power of a surface drive. My buddy has passed more than one on our way out to hunt.

Well I just got a boat for my go-devil. It's a 1842 go-devil round chine smooth bottom hull. Best part it was given to me to use, owner had it sitting in the barn and said take it at least you will use it! Now how do y'all think the 23hp longtail will do on that boat? It's an early model boat and doesn't seem all that heavy.
