the only problem with the zeiss conquest is they have limited MOA travel. That is my main beef with them as a long range scope. where the leupold MK IV has around 100 MOA of elevation, the zeiss has around 45 MOA.

I am a sniper, and I say Leupold. They are easy to work with, durable, and the cost is not ridiculous. The glass on a Zeiss is better, but as you said, you're not a sniper, and probably would never even be able to tell the difference. Make sure you get a mil-dot reticle. Be careful with that 2 lb. trigger, especially if you plan on carrying it into the woods.

How much would the CDS play in to it with the Leupold? Does Zeiss have something similar?

I don't like to dial for big game & stay away from busy crosshairs for this application...the zeiss 4.5-14x44 AO with a standard z-plex is sweet hunting glass.

If you plan to shoot a lot of long range targets along with some hunting, then I am on par with sniper steve.

You can't go wrong with either Dean, but Leupold has my vote. I have a couple and really like them.

I would go with the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 with target turrets. You can get Kenton Industries custom elevation turrets for pretty cheap, but I would just figure out your dope on turrets it comes equipped with, or know your holdover. The Zeiss will have a much better FOV and eyebox, which, IMO are critical features for a hunting scope

I love the leupolds. I have every line they make from rifleman up to mark 4. They make a great scope.

AND IF you ever mess it up. (Like drop it on concrete) leupold will fix it or replace it for free. No questions asked. Lifetime warranty fully transferable. Customer service is AWESOME!!!

I can't speak for the zeiss like I can the leupold. But I've heard real good things about them.

The vx-iii/3 4.5-14x50 is an awesome scope... But I don't own one. I own quite a few 3.5-10x50, 6.5-20x50, and one 8.5-25x50 and they are all GREAT Scopes. I always wanted a 4.5-14x50 BUT I can usually find a used 6.5-20x50 for about 50 bucks more, so I buy it instead.

Either way you are going to be looking through awesome glass. ... I'm currently on the search for a mid range leupy or zeiss, if you happen to run across a deal holla at me.

I had a zeiss scope for about 4to 5 years now and i am pleased with it. Zeiss is more expensive but the lense is more clear than leuplod

                        My say is zeiss

Zeiss ...A sales guy told me once Zeiss makes there glass from the center of there crystal everything outside the glass gets sold to Leopold Same quality different name. That's atleast what I was told. Both good scopes in my opinion

Somehow I busted the eye piece on my Zeiss. I mailed it back to Zeiss. I am waiting for a new scope at this time. They did say that they would up grade it for me from a 3x9x50 to a 3x12x56 at no cost. Cant beat the customer service and I cant wait to get it back.

Either way you cant go wrong.
