This looks pretty good, need to get a vacuum sealer so I can try it.

What marinades are y'all using, what's your favorite?

A vacuum sealer isn't a necessity- I've heard of lots of folks using a ziplock bag- just force as much air as possible out of the bag before sealing.

Still haven't tried this but I'll be testing out the temp on my crock pot today...

Huntress that plate of groceries looks amazing! I need your sauce recipe!

Did you throw veggies in same bath or cook differently?

Does your pot have a warm setting? That's what I used on mine before I got a digital cooker.

They won't melt? Also heard never heat stuff in plastic, some nasty stuff seeps out of it into your food. Was thinking vacuum deal bags were safe to cook in?

I don't think it is an issue with the fairly low temps of sous vide cooking. You can use the bags in boiling water and sous vide is at least 50 degrees cooler.

We tried it last night... Steaks were great but my fire wasn't hot enough for the sear I was looking for. Still delicious but I like a crisp outside.

Mitch, do you have a marinade you'd recommend? Thanks.

I just seasoned it like normal and vacuum sealed. No marinade per say...
I use Texas Road House seasoning. You can buy it at most of the restaurants.

                                Ronnie,

Take the lid off and set it to low. If that no worky, try high.

High setting keeps mine at 134 degrees without a lid.
