Originally posted by Johnny View PostAwesome info and thanks for passing it along. From the sound of it, I'm going to be buying a fly rod or two to take along. I have a house rented out for 11 nights in a real nice area and really looking forward to this trip.
One other thing...how's the wildlife in this area? Any certain areas in mind where wildlife is a bit more populated than others?

Been to Steamboat many times but never in the off season. I have gone to other areas in Colorado during the off season and found a snow mobile outfitt that ran 4 Wheelers on the same trails during the off season. That was a blast.
Have done that in Aspen and Brecknridge. I bet there is a setup in the Springs as well.
Good luck at the SERIES

Johnny,
You will be playing in Steamboat and in Craig also, We rented 4-wheelers and rode in the mountains and that was a blast. it is right outside of Steamboat. You can also float the river there it was fun but the water was cold. Go to the hot springs. There were some things to do in Craig but I can't remember what they were. My son played there when he was 9 good place to play.

Johnny,
Here's the website for the outfitter we went with out Steamboat. If you use them, try to get them to set you up with Mike Orsi. He was a GREAT guide! The Stagecoach Tailwaters is a good spot. We didn't fish it due to having access to some other private property. We did fish the Stetson Ranch. Some of it is kinda tight! Good fish though.

Johhny he is right you most likely will be playing in Craig also. We played at over at least 6 different places over the times we went. Some of the places are up to 30 to 45 min. drives. So after opening day get a look at the towns you might be playing at. A couple places we played at weren't really even towns. Just a rocky field someplace. Most of the fields you will play at will not be close to what you are use to. But the scenery you will be playing in far out weighs down here. Also as far as wildlife we had one parent total out their tuck on the way to craig one morning with an elk. Also had another hit a mule deer one morning. Some of the fields on the mountain sides you can watch all the wildlife while the games are going on.
