The family and I are driving to Steamboat later on in July for Colton's World Series. We will arrive a few days before we start playing ball then lay over a couple of days after to do some stuff. So who has been there and what do y'all recommend on things to do? Thanks!

Take a drive up to Pikes peak Johnny. Its beautiful. I used to fly fish up in Deckers on the south platte river. There used to be a little fly shop there called flies and lies. Good fishing on that stretch of river. I used to kill some big browns on a #22 blue dun dry fly. Heck, take a tour of the coor's brewery too!

Fish the Yampa! I have info at my office from the outfitters we fished with a couple of years back. Let me know and I can get it to you. There's also a place in town that has awesome cinnamon rolls. Be sure to get one. There is also a little shack on the main drag that sells creeps. Don't miss those either! Enjoy the scenery and laid back atmosphere most of all.

But, none of what you mentioned is close to Steamboat.
As stated, fish the Yampa. Try fishing Stagecoach Reservoir. Big trout in both.
Maybe just drive through Routt National Forest.
Steamboat Lake State Park in nice. Steamboat Lake Outfitters does guided horseback rides.
Or you could just do a brother a favor, and go scouting for elk for me to hunt in September.

My son played 3 World series there best place to play ball in August. Agree with the Fish Creek Falls the boys had a ball there on afternoon. Also took the boys white water rafting one day. Went in to town to the fly fishing store and book a trip with them. It was great they had a little class first showing the boys how to use a fly rod then we went to some stoked ponds and a creek it was great. Some dads went golfing one day. Some mountain biking. The horse riding right in town is not bad. On the the last trip we went to some mountain range with a couple lakes and had a cook out it was fun. He is a good cam for the area. We all rented condos it was just as cheap and alot more fun than staying in a hotel for a week. http://www.steamboatcam.com/

Awesome info and thanks for passing it along. From the sound of it, I'm going to be buying a fly rod or two to take along. I have a house rented out for 11 nights in a real nice area and really looking forward to this trip.
One other thing...how's the wildlife in this area? Any certain areas in mind where wildlife is a bit more populated than others?
