Ford F350 Shifter stuck in Park ????????

I have a 2004 F350 and yesterday it didn't want to shift out of Park into any other gear. It took me about 5 minutes of setting there with my foot on the brake wiggling the darn thing to get it into drive.
I tried it a couple more times thinking maybe something just got jammed in there, but the same thing happened. I'm now just putting it in neutral but I can't remove my key that way.
    Anybody had this happen before?

I dont know about that particular truck, but there is usually a switch that the brake pedal trips to allow it to go into gear and activate the brake lights. Check to see if brake lights come on when pedal is pushed. If not, it is most likely that switch.

i have seen the f-series get stuck in park when there is a load on the trans. like when you have a trailer hooked up, or are parked on a steep hill, or up against a parking stop. like the above poster, it may be the switch at the brake.

X2 on hauling a load, puts tranny in a bind, my advice is buy a Chevy.. But that's just IMO.

Yep, this is 100% accurate. Ours does this often.

I have that problem in a 99. Sometimes turning the wheels all the way to the stop and then back will help. And sometimes getting of the brake and then hitting them again will do it.

My f150 did the same at a gas station a Fuse went bad that controlled the switch on the break petal to allow to shift out of park! Check all your fuses!!!

I have had it do it in several vehicles over the years and for some reason the steering wheel was binding it up...pull the steering wheel out of the lock stop position and it would then shift

Happened to wifes expedition while she was in a drivethru. Was a fuse for the switch on the brake pedal. Stupidest design ever.

I have jeeps and their electrical is bare bones and easy to work on, Fords has so many gremlins its not even funny and the key to your truck is its 10 years old. The newer rigs are crap. I have one that I may end up buring before its over
