    Best bars in Texas

Im not a bar hopper just like to stop in and have a beer and shoot a game of pool ever once in awhile. Ive been to some pretty rough ones to when I worked the oil field. The Silver Dollar in Texarkana is about the roughest one, bullet holes in the walls and lots of bikers. My favorite was the Junction in Commerce, Tx. Had many good times there. Sad it closed. Maddogs in Commerce was a good one to. Lets hear about your favorite ones from the past or present times. Have a feeling this thread will have me thirsty. And a word of advice, stay away from the bars in Tawokani, Tx!!! Nothing but trouble, Trust me!!

Henry's Hideout in Magnolia was a place of infamy back in the day. Henry did an interview on one of the local tv stations and when asked how he handle fights in his bar he said he used a pool cue to break it up. They asked "what happens if the pool cue doesn't work?", to which he replied, "I leave and let them have the bar until their finished, then I go back and clean up the mess."

Trigger's in Kenefick was pretty much the same, sure was a lot of "wanna be" tough guys wanting to strut back then.

Sure glad I grew out of that phase in my life.

        Wow, so many to pick.....

Riley's on Hunter Road - San Marcos, TX (Nothing like a slanted floor)

Crying Shame - Waco, TX (It was the spot my parents told me to never go, so I went and went often)

Cain and Abel's - Austin, TX (My UT campus hang out)

White Elephant - Fort Worth, TX (Cold Lone Star and I could sit in there all day)

I hate to even share this, but I don't live in Austin anymore - best place for a cold beer and a game of pool on a springtime afternoon is Deep Eddy Cabaret, hands down.

Used to love Mesquites in Lubbock, since I've moved they cut down the Magnolia tree inside (the trademark of the place) and the frats kids have moved in. It ain't the whole in the wall bar it used to be.

Now that I'm in the Houston area I'm partial to the Porch Swing Pub on Washington. Though I haven't ventured out too much in Houston so not sure what else there is around here.

Did you ever go to Bustin Loose in Sulphur Springs? And I'm talking about the one that burned down over 10 years ago that was located by the sale barn. I've been to many bars back in my hay day and that place was the best of the best in my opinion.
