That stuff is all over our Mule Deer spot north of Big Bend. Knew what it was but not that it was an indicator species for the desert. The Javi's and Muley's seem to like it. They shred it and eat the soft center off it down to the tap root. I assume it is for the moisture.

No wonder Leggy ain't killed no big deer in Mexico, he's takin' pictures at prime time.

That "living vicariously" thing keeps popping into my head. Appreciate it, bro'.

Unfortunately, since we have never met, I did not see your name on my cell.

I have a few more but none that really show anything that you can't already see in the images here.

I wish I had pics of the hole where they cook the javelinas in the ground.

Had a very interesting New Years Eve Party at the ranch drank beer with two cowboys from neighboring ranches. The older one didnt seem to have much respect for the highly entertaining younger cowboy who spoke english surprisingly well. Eventually the younger cowboy had to stand up to the verbal abuse that was occasionally thrown at him from the older man. To my amusement..I was a little drunk too maybe The older guy tried to pull out his knife and lunged forward and I can only assume he was perfectly willing to stab my new friend, but tripped over my feet and the edge of big rocks lining the campfire. The young man was moving like a cat ( which he immitated) and picked up one of the heavy stones to cave the mans head in (self defense). After some colorful language the younger cowboy went into the brush and hit the pipeline road headed home on foot. The wife of my cowboy told me the next morning that it was good they were not able to finish the fight and that both men had some type of formal training of some style of fighting I never heard of. just think, that type of party was all over the brush country in ole Mex...no tellin who got hurt over nothing
