Looks like my youngest, Noah is set to join the ranks in aggie land next fall! He received his acceptance letter from A & M last week and is starting to wear alot of maroon lately. While he received his acceptance to UT also, he really liked the campus and environment at A & M. Now he has to decide on living on campus or off. Any suggestions?

i lived off campus the whole time and i loved it. i lived right across the street from Olsen Field(baseball field) and i was a ag major so i would ride my bike all over west campus. i did alot of fishing and hunting around snook, somerville and college station so it was nice to have a lot of room within my apartment to store my stuff. on campus you dont have near as much room.

i lived on campus freshman year and thought it was great. i met a ton of people in the dorms. i highly recommend it.
the University Commons dorm was where i lived. 2 guys dorms and 2 girls dorms in one building. Ashton and Dunn are the names of the guys dorms. i would live on the Southside of campus.

Humper, I'd check the traffic patterns before I got him a place. One to avoid is anywhere down south on Wellborn Road. That road has really caught a lot of traffic due to the enormous growth south of town. On the East side (Lincoln, etc) would be good. Stay away from the area of Southgate Village apartments, which is South of campus, due to the crime. You might check with CSPD on crime, traffic headaches, etc.
Traffic is a pain when the students are back...seems like they all have 3 vehicles and are yacking on the phone instead of driving (no, they can't do both).

Lived on campus (Moore Hall Truckers, BMF '42) my freshman year, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Then lived off campus the rest of the time.
Of course, without Bonfire, I'm not sure what exactly one does on campus all fall...
I've got an idea - how about you tell your son he can come be a lawyer for a few years, and I'll take his place as a fish entering A&M this fall.

congrats to your son, I am in my second year and have live off campus for both and love it. I live off of North Dowling, not on the bus route but only 5 min drive from campus, I really like the location. If you want to e-mail me I can give you the name of the duplexes and some more info on them.
