My communication prof is having us do a optional persuasion speech on monday the 19th and the deal is we have 3-4 mins to persuaded the class to donate to the organization we choose to speak about. So its almost like a competition and the winner receives up to 20$ from the prof and whatever amount of money the class brings in to donate. So its not a lot but still better then nothing. So what organization would y'all pick and why? The first that came to mind was The wounded warrior project but I'm curious to what others think. I have until friday to pick so I'll keep bumping this up until then.

You would be able to better persuade someone(s) if the cause is a close one to you. Yes, your big cancer societies, etc. get a lot of attention because of the extremeness and severity but if you can find something more specific, then it would be better received by others. Therefore, grabs people's attention.
For me, it would be amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. My wife's paternal grandmother was taken from this terrible disease and we honor her every year with a fundraiser walk.
Or it would be celiacs disease which my wife has after delivering our first child. The complications she has when she consumes gluten, the disappointments of never eating her favorite foods, the surgeries & procedures necessary.
Speak from the heart, have a relationship with the organization beforehand, and you'll do great.

Kids before any other and American kids before any organization overseas... I understand others are in need but why would you take care of others before your own?
