What's the Best Way to see Dominant Boar

We have a couple of really large hogs running around on our place. We have seen a few pictures in the middle of the night and one during the day running through. I would think they are the dominant boar hogs in the area, I don't know how something smaller could stand up to one of these big boys. The feeder legs are 8 footers in the pics. How big do you think these guys are?? I understand right place at the right time, but what could really increase my odds? I put out some black gold but I dont think I used enough in one spot. Should I put it over corn or not? I would use sow in heat if that would help. We just got a drill rig 200 yards from my (built in) hog trap so I don't think they will come in that close. Caught them in a field last week at night but didn't realize the big hog was there until they started running off. His flopping ears gave him away. But I could not get on him good enough to fire. Should I bait that field up and sit all night. If put a feeder out there where they have been feeding sometimes at night, should I use black glod or sow in heat and how would I use it in a flat open area. Thanks

I think you are on the right track. Bait up the field, then set all night waiting for them. You can put HawgLights on your feeders (or the Wal-Mart DIY equivalent for less $$$) and be ready for them whenever they show up.

If you have an established area where they are frequntly seen in the trailcam pics then I would just sit there. Use the trailcams to maximize your odds.

I don't know about black gold, never used it, we have a recipe we use for post holeing that works well. But anything that keeps them in the area longer (or keeps them returning to the area) is a pretty good bet.

a few things that will help...Back gold..but a tree really close..good shot oppurtunity.. www.inheatscents.com Sow in heat has really helped me..this stuff is real sow in heat estrous.. and last but not least Grim reaper wildlife attractant..good stuff some of the best I have ever used.
A hawglite is the next too that will help.. www.hawglite.com.

The next thing I feel is a must for permanent feeders is a /
www.texasboars.com feeder light,..,these truly are the best..try the homade ones but these dont fail and are something else.
A good game cam ..from the pics you have will help you with the time they are coming in. Watch your scent..and dont make a sound..

Truck,Red lensed spotlight,corn.....That should do it.I don't have the the drive to sit out there all night.Just corn the roads and fields and make passes in a somewhat quiet ride through the night and hit em with the red light. When the sows are hitting it a big boy should be there with them.
              Good luck!

I think the best way to see a dominant boar is on the breakfast table!

Ditto what Tim Hicks said IMO. That's a guy that knows what he's talking about whether your hunting hogs...or feet

They make a scent dripper that will drip 24/7 I use it in a spray bottle around me as a cover scent..also find a good trail or wallow/rubbing area and use a scent drag.

Anytime, sows come into and out of heat just like rabbits, anytime after the shoats are weaned, they will kick into a estrus cycle..

How old are they once mamma weans them? We have alot of sows with all differt sizes of shoats. I would think weaning should happen soon then the big boys will show up. What do the big boars do when there are no sows in estrus. Eat and look for sows in? Will they just lay up alone and not move very much or what??
