This is what "Katniss" looks like when she's not covered in dirt.

Just finished the second book last night. If I can just get out of my sick bed to make it to Wally World to get the third book...

I think we will see a renewed interest in archery because of this. Last week I asked my archery students if they had read the book - they were all ecstatic about it. I told them all to go see the movie and watch Katniss closely. She was coached by 4 time Olympian Khatuna Lorig. Here's a USA Archery article about it.

Haven't been so pumped about fiction since Star Wars!

Thanks for that link! I had heard she was taught by an Olympian but I didn't know if it was true.

Cool! I just finished the third book last night. I can't remember which book Haymitch's story is in for that Quarter Quell, but that was exactly how it read. Thanks for posting.

            And, you're welcome Dadsgirl.

Wife went through the trilogy and Mia's on her first one and can't wait until Friday's premiere. Wife says it's so good. She's avid reader, not I. Only will read if I got nothing to do at allll. Sounds like a good stuff.

Funny to read this post. Just got back from the store, from buying the trilogy of the Hunger Games. My 11 yr old son borrowed the first book from a friend at school and finished the book in like 3 days (meaning it must be good). He had been asking for the second book. Haven't read them myself, but will now that I got them.

FYI - Bought the trilogy hardcover @ Costco for $29.99

I read this thread a few days ago and my girlfriend just happened to have gotten them. I just finished the first book up here a few minutes ago, must say it is a good read!

Disappointed in the movie way to scrubbed. Probably won't watch the others.

Yeah, ya will. It might be on TNT in about 10 years, but you'll watch it.

I was not disappointed because I was expecting to be, after reading the books. I knew it would be watered down (they had to, to make it PG13), and details would be missing. But all in all, they got the main components in. And... I didn't cry - I did when I read the books.

I think they hit the Capitol people perfect, just not the despair of everyone else. O well Donald Sutherland was pretty good

Wife & I saw the movie last night. I was pleasantly surprised how closely it followed the book given that most movies miss a lot of the internal dialogue that books provide. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one
