About 50/50%, not good odds. Fun to shoot though, I once cut a 5" dia tree down with 3 shots from about 20 feet. Wicked holes man.

Of course, use quality ammo, regardless of caliber choice. My point was that many people say, for example, "The 9mm is an ineffective man stopper." and that simply isn't the case. I would rather use a good 9mm hollowpoint than a .233 FMJ in CQB, indoors any day, but given the choice, I would choose a quality .223 (or other high velocity rifle caliber) frangible bullet designed for the purpose of CQB, self defense. My point was only that there are other variables that play into penetration, energy transfer and "stopping power" than just the platform (ie pistol, shotgun, or rifle). Choose the correct bullet for the job and overpenetration will not be as big of a concern.

I like a High Capacity Beretta 9MM , with " self defense ammo " , a Saiga 12 , with " self defense ammo " , and a good " self defense knife " with hand to hand combat training ! All behind a good guard dog who should have already solved " the problem "

If you rack one when there is one in the chamber, you just wasted a round. Keep it loaded and the only thing someone should hear is a bang.
this^^^ i dont use a pump to scare somebody, i use it to shoot em.
