With the price of gas going up, what can be done to help with better MPG. I have a 2000 F150 4X4 with a 5.4L automatic. Are there more effecient spark plugs? Air intakes? Exhaust systems? What do ya'll think? Every little bit will help.
according to the POTUS, you just need to run the proper air in your tires.
That said, regular maintenance is going to be your friend. The monds you spend money on will not give you enough of a boost in economy to outweigh the cash laid out. easy on the accelerations, coast long ways to a stop because the transmission disengages while coasting in the newer trannys, and that will help out a LOT.

idk by the time that you spend $$$ on exhaust, intake, programmer, etc. It would take a long time to make it worth while in my opinion. best thing is drive the smallest truck or car that you can do everything you already do now or make some sacrifices. unfortunately thats what it has come to.
I tried a ton of different things with my chevy 2500HD 4x4 and finally just gave up. Hopefully someone on here can help you. I bought a driving car for the times I don't need my truck. It gets 38mpg.

It's free and will save you money.
(just don't get in other peeps way)
On another thread the other day there was one who claimed a 2-3 mpg loss when he switched to BFG all terrains. I bet if you switched back to BFG rugged trails or another less aggressive tire you'd see some MPG's come back. Loss of MPG with a more agressive tread is pretty much a given.

And, the best thing you can do in addition to the above statement, is keeping your foot out of it.
