    Barbwire twisting tool?

Is there special tool for twisting barbwire together? I've seen where the wire is connected, and it's wrapped up nice and tight and neat.
Is there a tool, or is it just practice and skill with the pliers?

A good pair of fence pliers for sure. Never seen that fence fixer. Handy.

If splicing without tension, it's pretty easy. Separate the strands, twist together, and then add tension to tighten up the splice further. Not much craftsmanship needed.

They do make splices if you require neat ness.

Use two of the tube slices. One on each wire. Space few inches apart. Then crimp the living S out of them.

we used them on the fence line for paying customers, but never on our own fences. They do look better, but the splices are kinda expensive for what they are.

It takes quite a bit of hand and forearm strength. Got to have man hands not office hands.

Those gripples and other clamps work really good and are a lot easier for most people.

If you use a Texas fence fixer or any of that other junk that puts the Zs in fence to tighten that wire on my fence you will be firmly told not to come back. That stuff is junk.

I'm starting to understand why we have so many post asking what type of jeans a grown man should wear. Your comment above is so true.

Fence stretcher and good fencing pliers.
And no you don't have to have man hands, lol. Just know how to do it right.

Old man hands and arthritis, that handy little tool is needed. I have built or bought several variations over the years. I have several miles of upgraded fence that is high tensile wire. I hate the stuff. That wire is so stiff that I'm not sure you can do that twist trick to tighten a wire.
One thing that I do is carry a large vice grip with me. I have a bar type tightener that I'll use to pull the wire more than tight. Cut the wire in the middle, make loops on each side, then take a heavy piece of tie wire to tie the two loops together. The vice grip is really handy for making the loops as you pinch the wire over on itself and hold the vice grip while twisting the tail end into a neat tight twist that wont slip. Flatten the loops prior to tieing them together. I remove barbs on anything that will be twisted with a tool. I never seem to have enough slack to use the fencing pliers to roll the wire over on to itself. That requires a really big sag and some pretty malable wire to do.
