No magic size. I am from Louisiana, we eat fish!!! When I first moved to Texas I thought it was illegal to keep them, really odd.

I havent eaten a largemouth in decades. My fishing partner is always lobbying to keep them though and cook them island style. Has anyone tried scaling, beheading and frying one whole?

Serious question. In east Texas they eat yearling bucks. Do east Texans eat fingerling fish?

Actually I don’t. I know how to clean nasty bottom feeders. If you clean the sh*t out of them there’s nothing left to eat.

Them yeller cats not bottom feeders, they mostly feed on live prey, they are the best eating catfish followed by blues.

I had never eaten bass till a friends dad asked us to come do some cleanup and culling on one of his ponds, anything under 3lbs needed to get removed. We had a fish fry that weekend and ate some of them blackened and both ways were great. Now, depending on where I'm fishing I'll keep some to clean but usually toss em back, crappie and white bass or blue gill eat better.

Have always eatin bass. Always keep smallest legal size up to 2 lbs on public waters. On our property where we stocked I do what the heck I want. 12-15" are some sweet eating

We ate the smaller ones in Louisiana growing up! Usually under 3 pounds. In college we ate em all. Just kept crappie now.

We ate 3 crappie and a bass tonight for dinner, fried in some peanut oil at about 350ish. Personally, I think the bass was better. It was flakier and firmer, the crappie was good but maybe a little mushier. They were all covered in hot sauce and then a fish fry before the hot grease.

My kiddos want to keep everything thats legal that they catch. It was hard for me to watch my son start shedding some tears couple weeks ago when he caught this guy at Texana and I wouldnt let him put it on our chain stringer.
                                Awesome!
