I prefer around two pounds or a little less. I’ll take bass over catfish any day. Except for belly meat from a yellow cat. Cutting into smaller pieces is the ticket.

Yall need to learn how to prep n clean your catfish. Do it right and it's bettern bass. Bass n sac-a-lait have that slight moss taste to em. Proper catfish has none of dat

I don't have a personal preference, due to growing up eating bass. Nowadays I only target crappie, and catfish. I have fried up a 6.6 one time.

I'd drop a 5 lb'r back in if I had a mess already. Most of the time I'm not keeping Largemouth, because my freezer is full of cats and whitebass.

I do remove them from my pond so 11-12 inches. In public waters I will release most unless I am low on fish. Then I will keep bass on the small end of what is legal.

Nothing better than a black bass baptized in oil. Big or little makes no difference.

This^^^ now Crappie is hard to beat but the only catfish i will eat over crappie is a flathead! There is no better eating than the nuggets in the head and that belly meat! People that say catfish are nasty or fishy ain't cleaning them right! Fillet and cut out all read red and rinse and wash fillets. Then soak in ice for about 10 mins before freezing! Never any fishy taste and even channel cats fry up white as snow with no grey meat what so ever.

I've eaten bass all my life. Grew up fishing farm ponds mainly and bass and perch were the main volunteers for the grease so thats what we ate, all sizes. Now I would let anything over 2 or 3lbs go. I still love nice hand sized bluegill, scaled, gutted and fried whole.

I usually only keep up to 3lbs for blackbass. But if my kiddo's catch a larger ones then they go on the stringer. My kiddos want to keep everything thats legal that they catch. It was hard for me to watch my son start shedding some tears couple weeks ago when he caught this guy at Texana and I wouldnt let him put it on our chain stringer.
