We got another 1 3/8” rain the night before last. I had been seeing a few axis at the feeder behind the house before that, but none since.

Need to check cameras in a few days and see what’s what.

Do you have any pictures of big ones you can post?

Unfortunately I haven’t been back out there - it’s been 4 months and I’ve got the itch.

Passed this guy at 65 yards. They are roaring and rutting in Kinney county. Lots of axis moving with recent rains finally greening up

What the! That looks like a toad! Is there bigger ones out there? Kinney is for sure a secret honey hole!

Man I keep looking at those giant brows! What a stud! How were his caudals?

Huge brows, decent caudals, not great. We are covered up in shooters this year. He was hard to pass but I’m being real picky and was helping some other lease mates get on them. I could have killed 6 over 30” with a rifle this weekend easy. Free range

Man that’s awesome! Are they starting to rut pretty hard? Are they coming to feed at all?

They’re rutting very hard and few members have had luck at feeders. I was mobile spot n stalking covering ground. Almost like elk hunting, can hear them before you see them. It’s fun

I’m new to the axis thing but got a place to hunt them recently. They’re hit and miss on the feeders sofar but getting more consistent. Area is not fed well at all so hopefully I can change that now and get it established. Had some show up in the daylight on feed but most the time in the daylight they’re in the pasture rutting. Here is the most recent one that showed up. Hoping it amps up here soon and puts me in a blind with a bow in hand 🤞🏼

                              another one early growth stage

very nice! We have some real studs around but they sure love to avoid cameras. It’s super green right now too. I usually spot and stalk during summer
