    Bermuda Grass

I hate this crap. Anyone know how deep I'd need to dig out my lawn to get past the rhizomes in cen-tex clay soil?

If it's anything like mine you can just stop caring for it seemingly non-stop for like 2 days and the **** will just die on its own lol.

That only works till you want to plant anything other than Bermuda in a given zone. I've lost several gardens to it. Heaven help you if you want to plant flowers or shrubs. Probably because other plants actually require water and attention... the grass gets real greedy.

I was once told by an old time gardener that the only way to get rid of Bermuda grass is: ‘ pull it, and pull it, and pull it, until you die - then just let it go.’ I believe this is true.

            Glyphosate will kill it.

Guess I should have stated that isn't an option for me. I've heard it can work but takes several treatment cycles.

dig up the area and put down new dirt. Then fight it for the rest of your life keeping it out. I had a flower bed that had it as a border. Ended up digging it all up. Cut it out with and axe and shovel. Then added back new dirt. 1 year later. It was back in the new dirt. Pull that stuff out till we sold the house. New guy moved in and now that bed is just Bermuda grass. I guess he gave up too

What are you wanting to do or replace it with.

Spent a lot of money and time on it trying to make it look good and it'll die on you every time.

Maybe I should plant some Bermuda. Can't seem to keep the St Augustine. Especially in the shade. My lawn is half St. Augustine and half dirt.

Maintaining an actual garden in ground for one thing (lots of benefitsfrom a water use perspective)...

I'd also like to be able to actually plant perrenial flowers in various parts of the yard without needing to mow them in 3 weks time due to the grass overrunning them.

Forget the flowers, it ain’t happening ! Just give up and embrace the bermuda grass experience, and buy your produce on the side of the road. It’s cheaper that way.
