That was back when we raised boys to become men! You might come home with your arm twisted at an unnatural angle and your head cracked open and bleeding and nobody was alarmed. You were told to just rub some dirt on it then to go wash up for supper.

I believe the Rocky's made a cameo in this video-- (if not Rocky's, something real close)

Not really. Ive seen about a dozen pair in the last 2 weeks. When found, girls are paying a premium for them second hand. The regional manager for boot barn was wearing a pair last week. And filled them just like i remember back in the day

Lol! We always had an orange spot around a knife wound when I was growing up. No such thing as stitches. Lots of tape if it started gaping too bad. Pour it full of methiolate and tape it shut. Lol

I remember exactly how that stuff smelled and how bad it burned.

I’m not condemning…or preaching…but I find it quite interesting every time I drive by a playground and see boys wearing helmets on the slides and swings

Who can forget the sting of merthiolate and the telltale brown spot evident under the bandaid?

My Mom always used kerosene on cuts. If you had a cough then you would drink a shot glass full with a sugar cube in it. Coal oil is what she called it. She was from eastern Tennessee.

101 octane at the pump was common, and 103 if you searched really hard.

Curt Gowdy had an outdoor TV show called "The American Sportsman".

Is that how it was spelled ? Anyway. It came in a brown bottle with a little rod like applicator. That only got used when a cut was really a puncture wound. Then the little rod from hell got jammed all the way to the bone.

I remember when you could hunt and fish anywhere as long as you asked permission and gave them some filets or a backstrap.
