They love troughs. But the coons are heck on them. I guarantee you if we made them change over the troughs on the lease to tubes we would save 10-12 tons a year. Guaranteed.

Do the tubes have drain holes in them?

Yes. I hunt in a rainforest (SE Texas).

What feeder are you using? And what feed?

Boss Buck. Been using 1900 last 8-10 months, but have the same results with all I have used previously, even the weather shield stuff.

It is realistically 95-100% humidity 24/7/365, unless we get a dry north/northwest wind or in an extreme drought like 2011 era.

Its manageable, but honestly curious about Gumbo’s experience.

I watch the weather closely. If it’s gonna rain I want feed in the trough. And when I do I only feed 1 or 2 sacks at a time. Works for me.

Want feed in the trough when it rains? Seems counterintuitive.

They’ve been eating about 200-250lbs every two weeks per feeder prior to green up. I haven’t been out there in about 2 weeks, but hope they have slowed down as my pocketbook isn’t going to be able to keep up

When they are in consumption mode like this, it isn’t around long enough to have a problem.

problem we had was the coons eating out of the trough. They would crap in it and that was bad for the deer. The clean up was always an issue. But we did not have timed feeders either.

Misspelled on my part. WONT feed in trough if it’s gonna rain.

Does anyone have pics of their trough feeders. Not timed just trough. I have thought about trying a trough but seems like it would be almost like just throwing it on the ground.
