    They pay that, plus if you need more you can tap into the GI bill. My biggest regret was not using the TA while I was active.

      Good luck with that, if you're looking to go in as an officer from what I've read the opportunities are few and far between. I've been following this guy's training log for a while and for all the impressive things he's accomplished he still hasn't been offered a slot.

            Army used to have the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and they also have a tri-service medical school in Bethesda, MD. You go to med school as a second lieutenant, and when you graduate, you owe the army/navy/AF a payback but I can't remember how many years, but it's probably 8 yrs.
