Free range sheep down like I’ve been mad at them

Deer season was not the strongest this year. I took a nice Coues in Arizond rattled in a mediocre 10pt at our ranch but I did more guiding and facilitating hunts at the ranch which I really enjoyed.

im going to miss almost the entire 2025 season as I’m getting deployed again overseas to a bit more dicey area than last time, so I’m trying to get in as much hunting between now and August when I leave.

I have an obsession with hunting sheep, especially free range aoudad. This season I have been able to take three free range sheep out in West Texas.

I had a great hunt with Desert Mesa Outfitters back in October and took a toad of an Aoudad pic 3 after my Coues deer hunt in Arizona. I have previously done a write up on this ram.

Well, the time finally came for our hunt with the H.E. Sproul Ranch. I got extremely lucky on the second day of the hunt to come across a very rare opportunity to take a free range Mouflon. We had been boots on ground 20 mins in to the hunt when we spotted a handful of rams below us in a canyon. We only had a few seconds to look them over before they realized something was not right. I quickly deployed the bipod legs attached to my rifle and sunk a round with my suppressed .300WM 277yrds down and across the canyon for this great ram. This completed my Texas Sheep Slam. It was surreal to take my bucket list exotic ram free range.

To add icing on the cake I had a chance to take an aoudad ewe high up on a cliff face. She rolled and luckily caught her foot in between two trees or she would have rolled off a rock ledge and plummeted another 20-30ft down.

I think with out the lottery, chances of hunting native North American sheep are probably not realistic for me . $40-100k per animal is the going rate?
